Oh, hey! Didn’t see you standing there! I’m wonderful, how are you? Great! Oh, how did I spend my Friday morning? I thought you would never ask! I played Color Theory Jeopardy with the coolest ladies I know in order to revisit some fundamental knowledge and strengthen the team I get to work with. Jealous? I know, right!
Here at Virtue, we take continued education and team unity exceptionally serious, as I have touched on in my previous blog about the Apprenticeship Program. The beauty industry is ever-growing, so it is important to stay ahead of the game with the trends; whether this pertains to hair cutting, coloring, styling, makeup etc. It is also imperative to revisit the basics to build consistency and grow upon these strong foundations.
Don’t let our Friday hours fool you! You won’t find the Virtue team sleeping in on a Friday morning, even though the doors open one hour later than usual. You will always find us at the salon, bright and early, attentively ready for our Friday Morning Meetings!
Here, we designate over an hour of our time, weekly, to getting everyone on the same page and focusing on some of our most valuable topics. Generally speaking, the meetings are energized by celebrating team member’s victories from the current week. We know our guests leave Virtue loving their new looks, but it is most definitely something to share and revel in as a team, as well.
“Teake, that haircut you did Wednesday was on another level!”
“I couldn’t believe how much of a transformation that balayage was for your guest on Monday, Hannah!”
Then, we designate some time to focusing on our sales numbers from the previous week, month and year. As a team, we take goals seriously as a means of growth, both personally and as a business.
Most importantly, these Friday Morning Meetings move into education! Topics vary, weekly, from hands-on to discussions to fun games, like the color Jeopardy I mentioned above. A prime example would be a hands-on, Bombshell Blowout class from not too long ago. Each stylist was paired up with a long haired guest and given an hour to work on a banging, round-brush blowout. We each were encouraged to try different product cocktails and blow drying techniques, resulting in a voluminous, wavy finish that was ready for the cat-walk.
My guest during the meeting, Traci, was a first time visitor to Virtue! She had such a good time and had nothing but awesome things to say about the salon and her experience. Check out her review on her Instagram page, ZingBeat_Clintonville; a page dedicated to connecting with our incredible community one local business at a time.
So, what does all of this mean for you, the lovely guests, friends, family & followers of Virtue? That your experiences are constantly going to be ahead of the game. With our team constantly focusing on education, I can confidently say that you are in some incredibly good hands. You can sit in any of our chairs knowing that whatever service you choose is going to be ahead of the curve and constantly improving. The education brought to us by Melanie and company is beneficial to us as stylists, yes. But, it is the giving back to you, our guests, that makes it the most valuable.
So, what did I do Friday morning before making you feel beautiful? I had a Friday Morning Meeting with the strongest team east of the Scioto River to obtain so much knowledge to share with you, our loyal guests.
