Need to take a break from the heat? Want a get up and go look? Try no heat, loose waves. This style could be exactly what you need for summer. Follow these quick and easy steps to add some wave and texture to your hair.
What you need:
A stretchy headband and a couple styling products, that's it!
Place the headband over your hair like you would a crown. It should be about an inch back from your hairline in the front. Make sure that all of your hair falls naturally and is not tucked behind your ears. (While this style will look best on blow-dried or completely air-dried hair, it can still be done on hair that is mostly dry. I would suggest leaving the headband in until the hair is fully dry for best results.)
Starting with the front, pick the side of your choice to begin. When you first start, take a small section of hair from under the headband and wrap it over and through the headband. Combine another small section from under the headband with this section and wrap it over and through the headband. Repeat this until you get to the back. Do the same to the opposite side. The size of the sections does determine outcome of the wave. If you want a looser wave take larger sections. For a tighter wave, take smaller sections. If there are loose ends after you wrap it, do a loose braid or bun so that the ends still have some bend to them once you take it out.
Leave your hair wrapped for 15 to 30 minutes. Coarse hair does not need to be wrapped for as long as fine hair does. I like to drink my coffee, do my make up and get dressed, then take out the headband.
If the waves need loosened, run your fingers through your hair. Grab some Texture Charge or Powder Fix to add a little boost at your root area then use a light to medium hold hairspray like All Around to maintain the textured look all day.
This style is not only perfect for summer, but ideal for saving time while getting ready for the day ahead. Give it a try and show us how it goes: @virtuevegansalon.
