The holidays are officially here!
While this time is filled with love and cheer, it can also be extremely stressful. We worry about finding the perfect gift for that special someone.
Well, worry no more! In this post I'll help you find that perfect, meaningful gift for your loved one—while helping out your local community.
With Small Business Saturday recently passing, I have been reflecting on how important shopping local truly is. The information I discovered makes it clear that spending your money locally, along with your tax dollars, means your money stays right there in your community. This helps the community grow and improve, bettering the area right where you live and spend every day. And that is why this holiday season I will be shopping local to help my community in many ways.
This chart provided by www.Grasshopper.com breaks down how a $100.00 shopping trip affects the economy and where your money ends up.
Since I work and live in Clintonville, that is where I will be striving to do most of my holiday shopping.
Some of my favorite local stores here in Clintonville include Wholly Craft, Moxies, Curiousity Shop, and Cottonwood.
Wholly Craft is simply amazing; this is the shop that you'll find the perfect gift for anyone, including that hard to shop for friend that already has everything! They have cute, locally made cooking/baking aprons that come in all sorts of patterns (some include a nifty beer holder/opener!), locally made pillows, handbags, clothing, jewelry, hair accessories, and adorable children’s toys.
The Curiousity Shop holds many once-loved jewelry pieces waiting to find another loving home. You can find many unique pieces here!
Cottonwood is great for that DIY, vintage, antique lover in your life. There are so many great treasures in this cute little shop, and check back regularly since they are always restocking with new finds!
Even at Virtue Salon you'll see many different items ready for gifting. I bought adorable stocking stuffers for my sisters, filled with Hempz lotion, Merry Hempsters Lip Balm, and locally-owned and made soap by 2UrbanHippies. Virtue also carries a wide variety of other locally made gifts ready for your loved ones to enjoy, such as candles, baby girl head-bands, greeting cards, and the always yummy Pattycake Bakery cookies. And of course, anyone would love to receive a Virtue Salon gift card! (Like us on Facebook; www.facebook.com/VirtueVeganSalon and follow us on Instagram; @virtuevegansalon to find all of our events and promotions going on in the salon!)
This holiday season, I encourage everyone to shop local and dine local. With so many fun options, you’ll definitely find the perfect gifts for the people in your life (and maybe a little something for you, too!).
Happy Holidays from everyone here at Virtue Salon!
