4 Myths about Shampooing
Everything you know about shampooing could be a lie. We want our clients and Virtue supporters to be as informed as possible when it comes to hair care, so let's bring some truth to the most common myths around a hair basic: shampoo.
1. You have to shampoo your hair everyday
Ultimately, how often you shampoo your hair is preference. One who has processed or longer hair may find it easier to go longer in between washes. Over-washing the hair causes the scalp to produce more oil. Often times when our guests start going longer in between washes, they notice that their hair is less oily.
2. Cold-water rinse will make the hair shinier
The hair contains no living cells, therefore it doesn’t react to cold or hot water. You can use products such as our Crazy Smooth Oil, our Heatsmart Dry Oil or our awesome shine spray to give a beautiful shine to finish the style.
3. If you always use the same shampoo, eventually it will stop working
Rotating hair products have no noticeable difference on the hair. However, if you use heat on your hair or color your hair it would be a great idea to use a shampoo and conditioner that has a heat protectant or color protectant.
4. You need lather and bubbles to know the shampoo is truly cleaning the hair
Foaming occurs when surfactant molecules in the shampoo mix with air and then create tiny little bubbles. Ideally when shampooing the hair you should have just enough to lubricate the hair and scalp. With our products if you feel like you aren’t getting a good lather simply add more water not more shampoo.
