Built on the foundation of sustainability and healthy living, Virtue Salon grew from a simple concept to an evolved establishment.
As a hairstylist, I considered the beauty industry, and how the current practices endanger the environment. How can we make positive impacts, not only with people we reach, but as well as the neighborhoods in which we work? I researched ideas to create a sustainable salon, and to my surprise, found several small companies and manufacturers that work hard to make environmentally-sound products. These companies use vegan ingredients and 100% recyclable materials for all shipping and product packaging.
With sustainability as the backbone, my inspiration for Virtue came from an antique barbershop chair I inherited from my great-grandfather, Dale Wolfe. Sparking a vision for a salon with all vintage furnishing, I gathered a collection of items that complimented the chair. As my collection grew, I realized that buying and utilizing repurposed items was one of the easiest and most eco-friendly actions I could do. Now, Virtue holds unique and antique furniture from the floor to the ceiling; every piece tells a story.
In addition to the environmental consciousness and classic furniture, I decided to offer as many vegan hair services as possible. I found All-Nutrient, Thermafuse, Soma, and Surface, all vegan, American-made and eco-friendly.
My passion for conservation only grows with time. I am dedicated to make Virtue a “zero waste” salon, where 100% of our items and products would be recycled, reused or repurposed. Though we are not there yet, we get closer to the goal every day.
